Challenge 41 - Mid Month Reminder

Well hello to you all!!!

How is the month of July treating you?

What a lot of things going on in the country!! What with the political situations here, the dreadful events this week in Nice and Turkey, the weather, the Euros and Wimbledon - its all been a bit taxing at times!

So lets put all that behind us and think about nicer things.  This months challenge is just the ticket, your memories of a lovely day out in the form of art work.  It can be a card that you may send to someone as a memory of a good time or maybe a canvas that you can look at when you are feeling down to cheer you up.

This month sees the Crowbrough Workshops with Barbara and Paul, hands up who is going this year. Anyone who has ever been on the workshops will know how much fun they are and how much you learn, there are still some places available, so if you are able to go then pop along to the website or ring Clarity Towers and book yourself a place.  You will certainly not regret it.

The design team have produced some great works of art to inspire you, don't forget you can click on their names or the artwork to pop over to their personal blog spots.

Don't forget that there is the monthly Calendar Challenge too!!!

We look forward to seeing your lovely work

      Challenge 41

      Welcome to summer Clarity crafters!

Well what a busy month June has been for Clarity.  We've had Maria Simms and Paul Church doing their thing on Hochanda and also the Crowborough open days too.

Were you able to attend and watch the design team in action showing the many techniques that they are famous for?  If you were there you will have also met the two newcomers to the design team, Linda Williams and Tina Cox, who are experts in the field of parchment.

Looking ahead to July, Barbara will be hosting the first of her retreats in Crowborough.  If you've been before you'll know that you will enjoy two fun packed days under the guidance and tuition from the lady herself with a helping hand from Paul Church.  If you'd like to attend one of the workshops there are still places, just pop along to the Clarity website for more details.

Onto our new challenge theme for July.

We all love "DAYS OUT" don't we?  Whether they're to the seaside, a ride in the country or a walk with the dog in the woods.

So our challenge theme for this month is quite simply to depict your day out, wherever it may be, and share your artwork with us (using your Clarity products only of course).

We look forward to sharing the stories behind your artwork and no doubt wishing ourselves to those places as well, so please let us know what your inspiration for the design has been.

If you're looking for inspiration of course we have the design team on hand to share their artwork with you to give you a helping hand.

Have fun designing and can't wait to see the entries.

(Guest Designer - Winner from challenge 39)

      Hi everyone

My name is Alison although most of you will know me as alimecca.  I do answer to Ali or Al too which is what my close friends and family call me.

I've been married to Dave for almost 29 years although I've known him for 40 years!  We met when I started teaching and we both taught PE.  In later years I moved across to special needs and became SENCO.  We also have a lovely little cat called Scamp who is now 14.

I have crafted for most of my life but came to paper craft about 15 years ago.  My Mam was a time served seamstress and she taught me to sew and knit.  I loved doing tapestries when I was in my twenties as they were my way of creating a picture as I can't draw for my life.  I still knit and enjoy making aran jumpers as they have to be thought about.

I began card making when I was flicking through channels one day and came across Create and Craft and saw people like Glenda Waterworth, Jayne Nesterenko and of course the wonderful Barbara Gary!  I was fascinated by what these talented people could create from nothing.  I tried stamping but was never really any good until I tried Clarity stamps and they changed my whole outlook.  I went through a phase of die cutting, but am now addicted to the wonderful thing that is Groovi!  I have virtually every plate and love trying the new techniques such as white work, piercing and snipping.  I am totally in awe when I see the samples created by the design team.

I had the privilege of meeting Barbara last year at Catterick and was chuffed to bits when she recognised my name.  She is a true inspiration to me and I'm sure very many others too.

I decided to attempt a little canvas for my guest designer piece instead of a Groovi piece, more to prove to myself that I could do it.  My inspiration for it was family days out to Scarborough when I was younger where we used to have one of the beach chalets and plonk our deckchairs on the sand where my sister and I would be off collecting shells or swimming (not something I would do now in the north sea as it's so cold).

I hope you enjoy looking at my artwork and that it brings back memories for you too.
