Spotlight on Barbara Lancaster - Top 5 from Challenge 11

We thought it would be nice to have spotlight posts throughout the month dedicated to our top 5 from the last challenge "NEW BEGINNINGS"  We hope you enjoy reading about their crafting journey and you never know it could be you in the spotlight next month.

I have always loved crafting and making things, but stamping in particular (with Clarity stamps of course) is what I have come to enjoy the most.  It is precious "me" time when I can leave all else behind and escape;  if only for a little while.  Barbara Gray and the design team are an inspiration.  Every time I see new samples, I want to try out new techniques, and something else inevitably gets added to my wish list!
I look forward to any time I can spend playing with my stash, especially now that once a month, I get to learn loads at the marvellous Maria Simms' Shrewsbury workshop with a group of lovely ladies - its just great.
Becoming part of such a creative group of people has really transformed my crafting.  I love seeing other peoples work and ideas, but I used to feel so nervous about posting my work, and without so much positivity and encouragement I would never have had the courage to begin my own blog.  Now it just feels good to be able to share with others something that makes me happy.
There were so many beautiful cards for this months challenge, I was over the moon to have been chosen as one of the top 5.  Thank you so much.  And for anyone who's wondering whether they should enter a card:  Go for it!!  I'm glad I did.

Spotlight on Nikki Acton - Top 5 from Challenge 11

We thought it would be nice to have spotlight posts throughout the month dedicated to our top 5 from the last challenge "SCENE BUILDING"  We hope you enjoy reading about their crafting journey and you never know it could be you in the spotlight next month.

Hi everyone, I'm Nikki, I'm far too close to 50 years old and I live in Hampshire.  I work for my local hospice and apart from crafting I enjoy sport, although my newly acquired crafting pursuits seem to be taking over!

I started card making just over 3 months ago after being introduced to it by a friend (Cathryn).  When the pupil is ready the teacher appears!  Over the years I have explored art in different forms but was quite disillusioned and hadn't done anything for a few years.  Seeing Cath's work and very healthy stash of goodies I was inspired.

I quickly embraced it and started watching Create and Craft, YouTube videos and following blogs. One of the earliest programmes I saw was Barbara Gray, hence my introduction to Clarity.  Most of the time at the moment I'm dabbling with techniques, but the challenge forces me to finish something. I've even started a blog and would love more followers if you're interested.

I looked for Clarity workshops in my area, but alas there were none, however my Mum is in a care home in Suffolk, so last month, after I visited her, I went to one of Janet Prings worshops in Suffolk which was excellent.  I will definitely be doing that again.  I'm currently playing with mixed media/altered art bits and love Sam Crowe's stuff and I just love getting messy!

Thanks to the team for giving me a 'Top Five', everyones work is amazing and I enjoy looking at all of the entries and seeing how you all interpret the challenge in a different way.

Hello my name is Melanie and I've been card making for a few years and have mainly using cds and paper kits in the past.

I bought a few stamps before but never really got into stamping until I discovered Clarity a year ago.  I came across the first classroom of last year and have been hooked ever since.  It's great to have a good teacher to show you how to get the best from your stamps.

This was the first challenge I've entered and couldn't believe I made the top 5!

February Clarity Shows

For our current challenge "Love and Romance" please click here.

********

Barbara was back today for the second show of the year and it's always a delight to be joined by the lovely Nigel May too. They always have a laugh don't they?

The music of the circus opened this mornings show with a beautiful display of the design teams artwork.  There was such a wide variety that it spread around the whole set to get it all in, I think this was a favourite with everyone!  Nigel was in his element and kept humming the tune throughout the show.

This afternoon Barbara revealed that she was going to make the afternoon shows follow celebrations throughout the year i.e. Valentines, Easter etc.

There were several sell outs in both shows so hope you all got to buy what you wanted.

If you'd like a reminder of what was on todays shows we've got all of the stamps listed below along with some of the design teams artwork too.  We've even linked the stamps to the Clarity website to make it even easier to shop, aren't we kind to you?
