Challenge 8

Welcome to another month!

Hands up who's started making their Christmas cards?  Aren't the new Clarity Christmas designs gorgeous and such a great way to theme your cards too.  You can check them all out here.

As we all know Barbara is a very busy lady but she has managed to take a well earned break this month, visiting Grace (her daughter) as well as spending some time relaxing.  We think she deserved it don't you?

It was straight back into work after her holiday with the craft show at Westpoint in Exeter this last weekend and Maria Simms and Dave were in Port Sunlight on the Wirral at the same time.  This coming weekend it's the Harrogate show and then we're back to the classroom and Clarity shows on Create Craft again.

Before we announce the theme for the new challenge, we have to say a few sad goodbyes.  Karen, Hellen and Rae have decided to step down from their posts, but we'd sincerely like to thank them for their contributions to the challenge since it began and wish them well for their futures.

We have three new designers joining us and here they are to introduce themselves:

I'm 48 and I've been making cards and happily stamping since November 2012.

I was feeling a little low so a friend invited me round to watch a couple of DVDs.  I expected a chick flick evening but we watched three hours of Barbara Gray.  I just knew I had to have a go.  shortly after the DVD session I was lucky enough to meet Barbara at the NEC in Birmingham back in November last year.  I was so impressed my first stampy craft purchase was made at the Clarity stand. I've never had a boring night since!  My partner Grum loves it......  He gets to watch whatever he wants on the TV now (well apart from Clarity time that is!)

I was delighted to be asked by Barbara to join the Clarity Design team and now to be asked to join the Challenge Design Team too.  Maybe I should buy a lottery ticket whilst my lucks still in!

Hi I'm Jo, I'm 49 and married with 2 grown up sons and my crafty companion is a 3 year old yellow labrador called Tess.

I've been crafting for many years with my main interest being card making and pyrography.  I am a freelance designer and crafter running regular workshops and I love to share ideas with my fellow crafters.

I'm loving being part of the Clarity design team and hope to bring inspiration to the challenge blog as well.

Hi I'm Sam and I'm really honoured and excited to have been asked to join the talented and friendly design team both here and at Clarity itself enabling me to share my love of craft with you.

As a young child my Mam passed onto me her vast knowledge in the basics of arts and crafts which included sewing, knitting, tapestry, rug making, dressmaking, painting and decorating.

In my 30's (which wasn't THAT long ago!) I rediscovered my interest and skills when I studied painting and decorating, interior design and soft furnishings.  A lot of the skills I learnt on a larger scale then are just as much fun now when used on tags and altered art.

When my Mam died a few years ago crafting really helped me and I decided to take my hobby and passion as far as I could.  I taught myself to blog and twitter and have since joined pinterest as well as chatting to endless crafty ladies on facebook.

I try and attend every craft fair and show that I can as well as attending classes so that I am constantly improving my skills and of course build up my stash!

I particularly love altered art, tags and my new found love - the Gelli plate so I'm sure you'll see plenty of Gelli action in my inspirational projects.

The lucky winner of the £50 Clarity voucher and our top 5 can be found in the post below.

Here's the theme for our new challenge which will run throughout October:

Winter
(using Clarity stamps ONLY)

As the nights are closing in and getting darker, we start to think about switching the central heating on (if it's not on already) and this gives us a reminder that winter is around the corner.  No need to wear your hats and gloves just yet though!

So revisit your stamp collections and see what you can create with this theme in mind and come and join in the challenge.  You could be the winner of the £50 Clarity voucher.  Sound tempting?

The Clarity stamp challenge design team have had their own ideas on this theme too and they have really diversified with some of their projects this month.  If you'd like to know which stamps they've used please visit their personal blogs by clicking on their names.

Lynne

(Guest Designer - winner from challenge 6)

My name's Sarah Dixon, I'm 47 and a teaching assistant in a primary school.

In the past I've done cross stitch/needlework, stained glass making and drawing/painting.  I discovered card making about 2 years ago when, during the summer holidays, I stumbled across Create and Craft. I watched a demonstrator using promarkers to colour in a stamped image and had to have ago!  Next I saw Barbara on TV and loved the stunning effects she created and the lovely clear way explanations were given.  Since then I've really enjoyed trying all the different techniques as well as buying lots of bits and bobs.

Here's Elaine's card for this month's challenge:

  6. Apologies the challenge has ended an hour early which I think may be due to the clock change and the linking tool, but any entries received up to 8pm will still be entered into the challenge
