Welcome to a new month and a new challenge here at Clarity Stamp Challenge.
Hope you all enjoyed your bank holiday weekend and the sun was shining where you were, although someone needs to have a word with the weather. It's summer, not winter that means the sun shines and we don't have fog and rain. Isn't that right? So did you spend your extra long weekend crafting or were you in the garden?
The Clarity workshops have now started and we'll be back next week with a full report on the Cowden workshop as well as letting you know about all of the others coming up too.
We hope you've got your diaries cleared this weekend for Barbara on Create and Craft or at least set it to record to watch later. Show times are as follows:
Saturday 1st June - In the classroom (lesson 17/lesson 16 part 2) - 11.00 until 13.00
Sunday 2nd June - Stamping with Clarity - 09.00 until 11.00 and 14.00 - 15.00
We'll also have an update and samples here as well so that you can get a reminder of the stamps and materials used in the shows and needed for the "In the Classroom" shows.
Once again, Clarity crafters, you've shown us your talents and showcased your favourite Clarity sentiments and verses. We've had some fantastic entries and can see all of those techniques being picked up from the "In the Classroom" shows too. You're a talented bunch aren't you?
The lucky winner of the £50 Clarity voucher and our top 5 can be found in the post below.
Here's the theme for our new challenge which will run throughout June:
Mr & Mrs
(using Clarity stamps ONLY)
As it's wedding season we've dedicated this challenge to all of those happy couples tying the knot. We've also expanded it to include wedding anniversaries too so that, even if you're not attending a wedding this year, you can treat your other half to a special card or maybe even your son/son-in-law or daughter/daughter-in-law.
Here are the design team with their own ideas around this theme. If you would like to know what stamps and techniques they've used please visit their personal blogs by clicking on their names for more details.
(Guest Designer - winner from Challenge 2)
I spent my childhood sewing and knitting for dolls and from my early teens onwards I made my own clothes and then later for my children. I still knit and crochet and have tried embroidery, cross stitch and tapestry, toy and box making. I’m also a keen gardener and if the sun shines that’s where I’ll be.
As you can see I’ve been crafting all my life but never considered myself to be arty and can’t draw or paint anything recognisable. I started making cards about 5 years ago when I could never find the right card to fit the recipient so thought I’d have a go myself and have been hooked ever since. My first attempts were very basic using patterned papers and peel offs and then it was decoupage, kits and CD's. I tried stamping early on but couldn’t get the hang of it but I’ve improved by watching the experts on TV and at craft shows, reading magazines and now its my favourite technique.
When I entered the Clarity Stamp Challenge it was the first time I’d done anything like that before. I still can’t believe my luck at being picked out as the winner, which encouraged me to enter other competitions and I’ve definitely got the bug now and have just set up my own blog.
I was thrilled to be asked to design a card for the June challenge. I hope others are encouraged to have a go and you could be the lucky winner of a £50 Clarity voucher too. Here's what I spent my winnings on:
The personalised stamp (I wanted this when it first came out but couldn't afford it at the time)
Wedding word stamp
Seasons of mists word stamp
Maple leaf stamp
Small sprig stamp
Small love and best wishes stamp
Happy birthday corner stamp
